    5 years ago, we released the first version of Responsive Framework, and over the past two years, we’ve been developing and testing a new version of Responsive.

    We’re now pleased to announce the latest release of the Responsive Framework, Responsive 2x.

    New in this version

    • A new navigation option – Mega Navigation
    • Two new color palettes – Eiffel, and Comm Ave
    • Major improvements to accessibility and performance for developers
    • Support for the following new university-supported plugins:
      • BU Banners – an all-new approach to the banner area which allows layout flexibility, text, calls to action, and even video in your banner area on a page by page basis. Now available for all websites using Responsive Framework 2x or newer!
      • BU Landing Pages – an all-new, easy way to create and maintain modern-looking landing pages. Now available by request on custom websites through Marketing & Communications.
      • BU Blocks – all-new ways to work with Gutenberg, the new WordPress content editor. Now in limited beta, contact Marketing & Communications to express your interest in participating.
      • BU PrePress – a brand new plugin to showcase your editorial content on your website using the same powerful tools as BU Today, Bostonia, and The Brink. Now in limited beta, contact Marketing & Communications to express your interest in adding this new functionality to your theme.
    • Support for Gutenberg, the new WordPress content editor

    Upgrading to this version

    There is no direct upgrade path for custom themes from earlier versions of Responsive Framework to this version of Responsive. Websites using Flexi Framework or Responsive Framework without a custom WordPress theme can follow this process to request an upgrade.
