Going forward, opportunities distributed by the Office of Research to specific schools, colleges, and departments will also be posted here for increased visibility. Anyone interested in listing an opportunity for BU researchers should reach out to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:jpfarmer@bu.edu?subject=Funding%20Opportunity%20for%20Distribution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Farmer<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The\u00a0<\/span><strong><span>U.S. Department of Energy<\/span><\/strong><span>\u00a0(DOE)\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/articles\/doe-provide-10-million-new-research-ecosystem-processes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>Biological and Environmental Research program<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0is soliciting\u00a0applications\u00a0for new observational and experimental studies to improve Earth system models. DOE is focused on three separate types of environments: terrestrial, watershed, and subsurface. DOE plans to make between five and 18 awards ranging from $300,000 to $1 million. Pre-applications are due by Thursday, December 5.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The\u00a0<strong>Howard Hughes Medical Institute<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span>\u00a0is accepting applications for its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhmi.org\/programs\/hanna-h-gray-fellows-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program<\/a>\u00a0for early career life scientists from underrepresented groups, with a deadline of Wednesday, January 8.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/id-ashley.cms-devl.bu.edu\/researchsupport\/project-lifecycle\/finding-funding\/\">view more<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Manage an Award<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span>The President has signed into law a continuing resolution that keeps\u00a0<\/span><strong><span>federal research agencies<\/span><\/strong><span>\u00a0funded at their current level through December 20. Because these agencies do not have a finalized Fiscal Year 2020 budget to help them plan for the year ahead, grant awards may be delayed or temporarily reduced. Investigators should stay in close touch with their program officers.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/federal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>BU Federal Relations<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0will provide updates as lawmakers work to finalize the federal budget.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span>International collaboration<\/span><\/strong><span>, integral to research at BU, requires openness and\u00a0transparency in our evolving\u00a0regulatory environment.
